Bernard Shaw./14th Dec. 1911" on the front endpaper, with Sarolea's signature on the title page. Additionally, laid in is a brief AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS) by Shaw to Sarolea on his stationery dated 12th Dec. 1911: "Dear Sarolea Will you lunch with us at Adelphi Terrace on Thursday at 1:30? What became of you on your last visit? We invited you to lunch; but you didn't answer and didn't come. Yours ever G. Bernard Shaw." Charles Sarolea (1870-1953) was Professor of French Literature at Edinburgh University, author of books on politics, literature, and social movements, and editor of the literary magazine EVERYMAN.
