Longfellow, Henry W.. Saggi de' Novelieri Italiani D' Ogni Secolo. Presso Gray E Bowen, Boston, 1832.

Price: US$250.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: In the publisher's original red muslin with paper spine label. There's some fading to the cloth, most pronounced on the spine and at the edges, and some light chipping to the spine tips and to the edges of the paper label, just touching the final "I" in "ITALIANI." Some bibliographies call for a half-title which is not present here, but there is no sign of an excision or any other sophistication, suggesting that this copy is complete as originally bound. The Frederick W. Skiff/Estelle Doheny Copy, with their bookplates on the front pastedown. A very good copy [and uncommon thus] of this early Italian reader, preparerd while Longfellow was still a Professor of Languages at Bowdoin College in Maine. BAL 12049.
