Description: A beautiful 2-volume set. Bound in calf leather with gilt borders, front and back. Gilt page edges and marbled endpapers. Stated fifth edition. Original owner's name written lightly at top of title page. Small sticker containing the name of a subsequent owner affixed to the inside front cover at the top. Marvelous condition for books more than 200 years old.

Fully bound in contemporary diced calf leather with gilt borders to front and rear boards, spines with 4 raised bands and gilt decorations and gilt printing. Marbled page block and marbled endpapers. Front board of V.1 is somewhat unattached, both volumes have wear to corners and some light foxing to internal pages. Previous owners' names penned to title page (V.1) and to FEP reverse (V.2) Text is clear and illustrations are bright. AD

Maroon Morocco to spine and corners. corners gilt ruled. Raised bands to spine with fine gilt pattern, gilt titles to two compartments and decorations to remaining compartments. Maroon paper to boards. 170 by 100mm (6¾ by 4 inches). 297+293pp. Spines are attractive with bright gilt and just some small light scuffs. Leather to the faces and corners has more pronounced scuffing with some exposed board to corners to both volumes and a small area of surface loss to the leather of the spine margin upper board of volume one. Joints and hinges are sound. Clean. Good+ set
