Description: 3 vol. 12mo. [3], vi-viii, [3], 4-321, [3]; [5], 4-324, [2]; [5], 4-348, [2] pp. Half later red calf over marbled boards, boards ruled with decorations in blind, spines in six compartments with gilt lettering and decorations, a green and a black morocco label on each spine; all edges marbled. Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Bound without the half-titles. Scott and Bowden 112a. Walter Scott Literary Archive, "Rob Roy". A lovely set of Scott's hugely succesful novel in which the main character is caught up in the Jacobite rising of 1715. Much of the story takes place in Scotland, and exposes the political, religious, and social tensions between Catholics and Protestants, and the English and the Scottish. Light rubbing to the extremities, an occasional spot of foxing to the leaves.
