Shortly after the 1960 election, the author of this work, Earl Mazo, wrote a series of exposes on potential voter fraud during the 1960 presidential election. Nixon appealed to the editors of the Herald Tribune to kill the 12-part story, which they did, with Nixon saying: "our country can't afford the agony of a constitutional crisis - and I damn well will not be a party to creating one, just to become president or anything else."
