Description: Hardback. A very good copy in a handsome modern three-quarters dark green morocco binding with five raised bands on the spine and the title in gilt on the spine and upper board. Marbled end-papers. Pp.vi,[2],251. 6 hand-coloured plates. Further illustrations and diagrams. Some offsetting from the plates. Chapters on loading, presenting and taking aim, judging distances, fowling pieces, bursting of blunderbusses, percussion locks etc. The author was rifle and gun maker to King George IV to whom the book is dedicated. Bound in later 1/2 black calf marbled boards in the style of the original binding, original title label relayed to upper board. Some offsetting from the plates and occasional foxing, o/w vg.
