Price: US$75.00 + shipping

Condition: Fine

Description: This offering is a Deluxe, Limited Edition Franklin Library publication of Recapitulation written by Wallace Stegner and illustrated by Walter Rane. It's deluxe in that it has the "built in" bookmark, gold-gilded page edges, satin-like end pages, and leather-bound boards with a ribbed spine and gold-gilded lettering decorating both the front and back boards and forming the print on the spine. It IS a book in Franklin Mint's The First Edition Society which means that it has also been signed (perhaps laser-printed) and includes a laid-in eight page "Notes from the Editors" pamphlet describing the work. The book was published by The Franklin Library in 1979 and is a stated "limited first edition published by special arrangement with" Doubleday and Company, Inc. Usually the books in this series by Franklin Library were published a bit before the trade editions so, in reality, the books in The First Edition Society are the true firsts. This copy is in fine condition and has not been read. To my knowledge, the only time it's been opened has been when I opened it to glean the information that I've included in this blurb. What an absolutely beautiful gift . . . for yourself or a loved one! Thank you for looking!

Price: US$80.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Blue hardback with black spine. Gold print on spine. Minimal general shelf wear to boards. PO's name on top of ffep (in ink). Signed by author (name only) on half-title page. I don't have authentication documention for the signature. I have looked at a few Wallace Stegner autograph's on-line, and the one in this book is a match. The pages in the book are tight; clean/unmarked. 278 pages. The first few pages of the book have a faint crease in them (you can see this more than feel it, so perhaps this was an issue from publication). The black DJ is not price clipped ($8.95). Bumping along the edges of the DJ causing small chips and closed tears. Scuffing/scratching/shelf wear to DJ. This book is not in a pristine collectible condition. Previous owners read this book. It is a very nice signed copy. Most of the wear is to the DJ. Copyright page states: "First Edition after a Privately Printed Limited Edition." Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
