Description: VERY RARE gilded & embossed hardcover book. "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" By Kate Douglas Wiggin. This book is believed to be the First Edition, published by Gay and Bird, London, 1903. 8vo, 18.8 cm x 13 cm x 4 cm, Orange cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering on spine & front cover, no dust-jacket. 347 pages. Weight: 444 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, there are several cracks between pages throughout, including between first pastedown & endpaper. Spine is very worn, loose & discoloured, splits in cloth alongside covers, bumped & frayed either end, gilt dull & worn away in places. Cover is also very worn and discoloured, few marks, gilt a bit dull, edges bumped & worn. Corners are bumped & scuffed, two are frayed with boards exposed. Outer edges age tanned & foxed. First title page has 4.5 cm tear from head down. Some pages have corner folds, and/or creasing alongside spine and/or top edge, and/or edge bumps/nicks/tears, and/or folds at either end of spine area. Pages 45 & 99 have vertical fold in middle the length of whole page. Small split between last endpaper & pastedown from tail up. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout.
