The hand colored plates in this first edition are much nicer than later editions, also, most later editions had fewer plates, making this first edition much more desirable. Freeman 3044. Massachusetts Horticultural Society p. 251 had only the 3rd edition. The author was a respected writer on natural history and botany subjects.
