Description: A Lovely book. The spine and sections of the back cover are faded in parts, but otherwise the cover is in good condition. The binding is sound, there are no loose pages. The pages show some foxing, but are otherwise in good condition. The top page edge has a decorative red stain. A previous owner has a small sticker with their name on the bottom of the inside front cover.

Description: FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 254. Publishers' green cloth with silver titles to spine in unclipped maroon dust-jacket. Spine tips and corners a little rubbed; upper board faintly marked from jacket. Endpapers slightly toned and very slightly foxed, with bold gift inscription dated 1942 to ffep. Jacket toned and lightly soiled, with nicks & creases to edge and small loss to spine tips and to 2cm split at tail of lower joint. A Very Good copy in Good jacket. Collection of ten fictionalised autobiographical short prose stories by the Welsh poet (1914-1953), all set in Swansea and written over a number of years about his early life from childhood to his work as a young journalist.

Higman was the agent for other prominent authors of the time including Arthur C. Clarke, Paul Scott and Muriel Spark. Complete with unclipped dust jacket. Original green cloth boards with silver gilt lettering on the spine. Lean to the book. Small area of fading to the spine corresponding to the loss to the jacket. Clean end papers with pencil signature of David Higman. Lightly toned and clean contents. The dust jacket has a darkened spine. Chipping and loss to the spine and fold ends affecting the text. Small hole on the rear fold of the jacket. Internal tape repairs to a closed folds of the cover.
