Benjamin Franklin. Poor Richard: The Almanacks for the Years 1733-1758. Paddington Press, 1964.

Price: US$35.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: Paddington Press, Ltd.; 1976. 11-1/4", 300 numbered pages. Introduction by Van Wyck Brooks, embellished with illustrations by Norman Rockwell. A book which contains approximately 10 pages for each of the 26 years worth of almanacs included here. Many of the almanacs have a drawing to illustrate one of Poor Richard's sayings (see photo). Included are three one-page and two two-page colored illustrations by Rockwell. The book is NF quality, tan binding with brown quarter binding, gilt lettering on the spine. The book is free of edge dings and corner bumps; head and heel of spine are also free of bumps; all edges are virtually free of wear; both boards are extremely clean as is the spine. There is no fading. Except for original owner's name/date inked on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and stains of any sort. The jacket is of VG quality--it has no tears, chips or scratches; the spine is lightly faded. What the jacket does have is masking tape on the reverse side, along both top and bottom edges, at the spine and both front and rear folds. The tape has made the jacket just a tad bit stiff but the tape has not caused any discoloration to the book and only very minor discoloration to edges of the jacket. Due to the large size and heavy weight of this item, extra postage will be needed. Because I do not know how to do that via ABE, I have simply added $5 to the sale price to help cover this extra expense.
