Description: Easily Good condition set of four volumes bound as two, the India Paper Edition of the Poetical Works of Andrew Lang as edited by Mrs. Lang. With Sir W.B. Richmond's two fine black-and-white portraits of the poet at frontises, tissue-protected. Bound quite handsomely in publisher's original blue cloth bindings, sharp and distinct gilt border decorations to covers, gilt lettering to spines. Bookplates to front pastedowns of both volumes, some tape-removal shadowing present, toning recto to bookplates. All edges gilt, quite finely. Printed dust jackets present, moderately worn and soiled, a bit of sunning to spines, a bit of chipping to edges, but protected in plastic jackets that have done their jobs. Plentiful poems about Oxford, St. Andrews and Scotland; Loyal Lyrics; Deeds of Men; Hesperothen; poems about books; poems about his friends; childhood; marriage; adulthood; sonnets, translations, reviews; games; myths; sport; folklore; art; portraiture; etc. Internally, the volumes are quite tightly bound, clean and unmarked. Some offsetting due to the bookplates. Volumes I-II: xv, 11-261 pp.; Volumes III-IV: viii [1], 4-231 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
