Description: Third printing. Signed by W. H. Auden on the title page, and additionally inscribed with a verse of poetry by Harold [Norse] to a former owner on the front free endpaper. Bound in publisher's brick red cloth lettered in gilt; lacking the dust jacket. Very Good with cloth lightly soiled and lightly toned, with light rubbing at tips and fraying at crown, foxing and small stains to bottom of textblock edge. Pages toned. Preliminary blank sheet facing the title page has a short edge tear, and a split near the center of the gutter. Signed by Auden, and Norse, who was part of Auden's inner circle.
