One of 750 copies of the large paper edition printed on September 20, 1879. The front joint almost broken, a gift inscription from 1925 on the first blank leaf.

Large paper edition; one of 750 copies, edited by Matthew Arnold. From the library of Elisabeth Walcott Kellogg, with her distinct bookplate on the front pastedown. A philanthropist from Oneida County, New York, Kellogg was the wife of lumber entrepreneur Frederick S. Kellogg of Utica. A striking copy with a distinguished provenance.

The works of one the greatest poets of the early 19th century given to one of the greatest poets of the latter 19th century by another great literary figure of the period. This copy, in bright and fresh original cloth, would be desirable on its own right, the association however makes this a truly wonderful and unique copy.
