Description: Quarto. Three volumes. "This is No. 42 of an edition of 525 copies, SIGNED by the author, of which 500 are for sale." Composed in the Baskerville Fount and printed on hand-made paper at the Chiswick Press. With the plain grey/taupe dust wrappers, over the original glassine wrapper, and lettered in red on the covers and spines. Full maroon morocco, gilt spine lettering, 5 raised bands, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, volume 1 contains the engraved frontispiece portrait by Francis Dodd and signed in pencil on lower right. Bookplate to front pastedowns in each volume. Vol. 2 has a few tiny worm holes in the joint, not affecting the interior or integrity of the volume. Dust jackets are browned, vols. 2 and 3 with nicks to head of spine and small closed tears. The dust jacket of vol. 1 is a bit battered with splits to the joints, chipping to head of spine, chips to corners with larger chip to front bottom corner, and chipping to flap folds. Overall, a very good, clean, tight set.

The page signature where the limitation and Kipling's signature is loose and hanging by a few threads. Foxing to page along the rough cut of the side edge. A stunning set.
