COLERIDGE, SAMUEL TAYLOR.. Poems, by S.T. Coleridge.. London: Printed by N. Biggs, Crane-court, Fleet-street, for T. N. Longman and O. Rees, Pater-Noster-Row, 1803., 1803.

Price: US$500.00 + shipping

Description: xi, [i], 202, [2]pp., 12mo. With the terminal advertisement leaf for "Poetical Works Printed for Longman and Rees"; faint spotting at the beginning and end. A very attractive copy in late nineteenth-century brown morocco by Riviere and Son, spine fully gilt, g.e.; joints very slightly rubbed. Third edition, substantially a reprint of his 1796 and 1797 juvenile poems, with some minor modifications and omissions but, oddly, without the addition of the great poems he had composed in 1797 and after. Charles Lamb saw this edition through the press; 1803 was the year Coleridge sank into the worst of his opiate-induced apathy and had to abandon his tour of Scotland with the Wordsworths, creeping back to languish in the Lake District.
