Description: Quarter green cloth with orange patterned paper over boards. Lacking dust jacket. Paper label on spine. First edition as indicated by February 1924 publication date on copyright page. There is rubbing of all edges of the boards, particularly the top rear edge where the board is exposed. There is light tanning around the edges of both boards. The green cloth over the spine is darkened and has wear at the corners of the head and tail of spine. The paper label is tanned and has some loss from an upper corner, not involving the text. Binding is sound. Pages have light tanning at edges. Top edge of text block has some soiling. Faint bookseller's note and price on ffep. Description: First printing with "Published, February 1924" on the copyright page. Green cloth-backed decorated paper-covered boards in dj. Modest wear to edges, offsetting to end sheets, light foxing to prelims, about very good in a chipped and worn good (not price-clipped) dust jacket with one 3" chip on the back panel, and cello reinforcement on the verso (in a removable protective archival cover). Scarce in jacket. Mansfield contracted tuberculosis at an early age, and died at 34. These poems were published posthumously, and edited by her husband John Middleton Murry. Born in New Zealand, she had few peers, her friends D. H. Lawrence and Virginia Woolf among them, as a short story writer.
