Description: This SCARCE 488 pp. indexed book is great Americana, containig the first discussion of the Wild Bill Hickock- McCanles tragedy. It gives a good history of Jefferson County, in the Nebraska / Kansas territory before statehood, and the last 120 pages are filled with biographical sketches of the pioneers. Bound-in folded map included. Clean inside other than a prior owner's bookplate just inside the front board. Very slight insect damage to 2 edges of the front board. Otherwise presents nicely, and is a "must-have" for historians and genealogists alike. Photos upon request.

Covers with moderate to heavy wear most noticeable at the spine bottom; front hinge cracked; shaken; title page separated along spine edge for one half. A well worn book with an OK interior.
