Description: Hardcover with slipcase. Marbled paper over boards with brown cloth over spine. Gilt lettering to spine, too. Slipcase covered in brown paper, which is lightly toned. Title page and colophon dated 1938. No copyright page. 168 pages. Good condition. Covers are clean and square, but there is a long, dark stain along spine (likely water damage). Slipcase also bears some water damage, has some rubbing at corners. Does not affect pages or binding. Reinforces at end pages by a bookbinder at some point, a nice and clean job. Pages are toned but clean. Binding is strong. A collectible copy, in French.

The photograph shows a smiling Miss Stein leaning on an ornamented balustrade.
