It is assumed that Irving served as the inspiration for Stoker's "Dracula" - perhaps an unwanted legacy. This memoir was published a year after Irving's death. Very Good copies of the First American Edition. Two volumes, large and heavy octavos. Red cloth binding, ruled on the front cover, with Irving's profile in gilt. Titling and ruling in gilt on the spine. Clean texts with top-edge gilt, others rough-cut. Volume One is xiii, 372 pages; colour frontis illustration and 17 others within. Volume Two is vii, 385 pages, indexed; with a frontis illustration and 17 others within. Top edges are gilt; others rough-cut. Light bumping, with wear to the head and foot of the spines. Volume Two has some small black spots on the spine (ink?) and some scuffing on the rear. . First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Has bookplates on front pastedown and endpaper identifying it as the former property of David A. Robertson and Anne Knobel Robertson. There is also a hand-written note by David A. Robertson detailing why the book was important to himself and his wife. Shelved Case 0 Volume I 372 pages, Volume II 385 pages. SC Consignment. Formerly belonged to David A. Robertson and Anne Knobel Robertson. David A Robertson was President of Goucher College from 1930 to 1948. After his wife Anne passed away from injuries from a car crash in 1942, he and several friends donated books in her name to Goucher.
