No date indicated on copyright page apart from 1926; 1938 last date for poem within; presumed circa 1949-50 edition (from online search). 273pp. Frontis. Fair to Good only. Strong brownish toning to spine with titles barely legible; similar toning alongside hinge and upper edges on boards with central cloth and titles all clean and sharp. Light abrasion and shallow creases at spine ends; bumping with short stress creases at lower front hinge end. Touches of surface loss at tips of mildly toed-in corners with no outright bumping. Moderate uniform toning to unmarked pages with strong toning from newsprint pp.180-181. Very slight separation starting rear side half-title page (ffep and h-t slightly misset); binding and hinges otherwise strojng and square. Non-authorial dedication dated 1950 mid ffep. A sturdy READING COPY.

Frontis plate and one full page interior illustration [Gallup lists three plates, but I'm not seeing evidence here of one removed]. Missing dustjacket. First impression in light blue cloth with gilt lettering. Covers toned along edges with light bumps to corners and nudging to spine ends, along with some stray scuffs and darkening to spine. Previous owner's name on front pastedown, else pages unmarked. A new printing following the 1926 Boni & Liveright edition, with new poems added in two appendices. A later impression was issued in darker blue. [Gallup A27b].

The original book of 231 pages was expanded to include a number of poems from magazines and early volumes which Pound considered worth adding. The light blue cover has a few minor faded spots on the front and the spine is slightly faded otherwise the book and contents are tight and clean with no marks or signatures. The dust jacket is not price-clipped ($3.50) and other than a little minor edgewear and some sunning on the spine is intact and nice. Overall a Very Good Plus item. $40.00
