Ezra Pound. Personae & Exultations of Ezra Pound. Elkin Mathews, Cork Street, London, 1913.

Price: US$400.00 + shipping

Condition: Fair

Description: Combined edition: consists of first-edition sheets of two books earlier titles; Pound's 3rd & 4th books. 500 copies were supposedly (re)printed by the Chiswick Press. But it seems this number was not accurate and that there must have been less, if I understand correctly. This certainly appears to be a scarce book in any condition. Brown paper covered boards with gold lettering on spine. 3/4 inch chip of spine gone at top. Also spine starting to split along front edge of spine at bottom. Some rubing to spine, especially at bottom effecting publisher's name. Otherwise sound & intact. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Moderate tanning/foxing to end pages & textblock edges. Interiors & text unmarked. Shallow scrap mark about one & one half inch across & a few other mild surface defects. Bottom corners bumped mildly.

Pound (Ezra). Personae & Exultations.. Elkin Mathews, 1913.

Price: US$975.13 + shipping

Description: FIRST SINGLE VOLUME EDITION, title-page with publisher device printed in red, occasional spots, motto to title-page of 'Exultations' (removed for this edition) restored in pencil, pp. 59, 51, foolscap 8vo, original grey boards, lettered in gilt to upper board and backstrip, edges untrimmed with a few spots, protective tissue to boards with what we might take to be the original tissue jacket wrapping around, very good. One of circa, probably less than as Gallup implies, 500 copies of this composite edition - an uncommon volume, here with a tissue jacket that is at least comtemporary and probably original. Pound, Ezra. Personae & Exultations of Ezra Pound. Elkin Mathews and John Lane, London, 1913.

Price: US$1000.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: viii, 51 p., [9] adv. Of the first combined edition, not more than 500 copies were issued. This volume consists of first-edition sheets of the two books with their original title-leaves excised and new half-titles and title-leaf for the volume inserted. Of this new preliminary matter, 500 copies were printed by the Chiswick Press. The rare occurrence of the composite volume in comparison with its separate components indicates that fewer than the intended number were actually issued. Ref.: Gallup A3b & A4b. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown. Water drip across front board which is hard to see except where it puddled at the bottom corner and does not affect the text block. [9]
