Description: This is a first edition and first printing (as denoted by the small "1" under the copyright year) of the Rockwell Kent illustrated edition. Kent, a world renown author, painter, illustrator and wood block artist, designed the dust jacket and fully illustrated each chapter. As told by Shephard, Kent's enjoyment of the "Paul Bunyan" stories with his blue ox "Babe" shows in the humor depicted in his illustrations. The dust jacket (after 95 years) is clipped, chipped and shows small tears at folds, yet it remains intact. The price of $2.50 is showing on the back end flap. Dj protected in mylar. Hardcover condition is good+ with boards of yellow cloth and navy lettering. There is edge wear and bumping at spine, ageing at inside boards and first and last end pages.
