Description: *** IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE UK YOU MUST CHOOSE PRIORITY MAIL OR YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED. THIS IS TO ALLOW AIR MAIL WIH TRACKING AND INSURANCE. *** This is a UK first edition hardcover published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press in 1926. The book is in Very Good condition for its age with straight spine, sharp corners and softened spine ends. The page edges are toned but the interior text block is clean overall with light foxing in places. It needs noted the opening end papers and title page have been sellotape repaired, but the pages are firmly affixed to the book and nothing is loose. There is a neat owner inscription in pencil on the front end paper, dated 1928. There is also a label affixed to the back inner board that indicates this book was purchased from a library but I stress this is the only evidence of library ownership and the book is very tidy overall and in collectible condition. The book has 181 pages with black and white photographs and the title page confirms the year of publication as 1926.

Illustrated with thirty-two photographic plates, most of which were taken by the author. A trace of bruising to the backstrip ends, and some spotting to the edges and throughout. The free endpapers browned and the binding cracked and a little tender at the half-title. Neat former owner bookplate to the front pastedown. Quite a good copy, lacking the fugitive dust wrapper. The author's first travelogue, detailing explorations in Egypt, India, Iraq and Persia. Now really quite uncommon. Woolmer 107 / Cross & Ravenscroft-Hulme A14.
