Dust jacket illustration pastedown on black and tan boards, front and back, lightly worn at corners. At rear a floral glossary "The flowers that appear in this book are called.". Parsley's first appearance was in the magazine Woman's Day in 1953, the tale of how a cragged pine surviving at the edge of an abyss sheltered the animals who lived nearby including the family of Old Parsley, who was known for promoting the green's healthful benefits. As time went on the tree grown bare had one last gift to give.

"A pine tree growing on the edge of an abyss grew so twisted that the lumbermen never cut it down, and it was able to provide shelter for an old stag". Bemelmans was, of course, the creator of the Madeleine books. Parsley is one of his more rare publications. This copy with some very minor wear to the corners, a gift inscription and a finger mark on the front free end paper; otherwise a nearly fine copy.
