Gertrude Stein. Paris France. Charles Scribner's Sons, 1940.

Price: US$175.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: This is a first printing of the second American edition--the one that does not include the eight illustrations. This fine example includes the uncommon dust jacket and the extremely uncommon obi, which explains why they released this version in response to the "sensational demand" for the book. The book has sound hinges does not suffer from spine-lean. Pages are clean, unmarked and undamaged with very slight toning. A previous owner's bookplate graces the front pastedown (inside front cover). The exterior covers are clean except for top and bottom edges, which each show a little soiling. Corners are sharp. The dust jacket and obi are both clean and bright with slight wear to edges but no holes, chips, creases or tears. There is also a small abrasion where a small price or bookstore label was removed from the upper left corner of the rear inside flap. The dust jacket and obi have been placed in a clear archival sleeve to keep them in great conditon. (Note: Photos may show a flash reflection.) PayPal always welcome. We pack all our books with care and ship in cardboard boxes. Additional photos emailed upon request.
