Description: 1811. New Edition. 524 pages. Fully bound in leather. Vol VI. Black and white illustrations throughout. Book has a slight musty odour. Light thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages, pastedowns and free endpapers. More prominent to text block edges.Hinges are lightly cracked but boards remain firmly attached. Binding remains firm overall. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Minor creasing and splitting to joints. Spine has visible creasing and tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a very slight forward lean.

Nine attractively bound volumes, volume I with some internal spotting (see full description), remaining volumes very good. Full period smooth calf leather with raised spine bands, gilt decorated compartments, marbled edges, frontis portrait in volume I, about 8.5" tall. Some expected rubbing to the extremities, spines very good but show their age mainly through a nice patina as well as some minor scuffs and scratches, front joints of volumes I and IX lightly cracked but covers very secure, text blocks firm, and except for first volume, pages very clean and unmarked. Volume I has slightly darkened area covering about a third of the front cover surface as well as a coffee colored stain affecting the lower corner of the first several pages, fading considerably for most of the book - overall about a quarter of the pages are affected with the stain affecting no text other than the bottom line of the publisher list on the title page. Volume I also has some foxing to the frontis and foxing and offsetting to the title page, some notes about the set (which plays are in which volume) on the final blank, no other markings. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
