Text block is tightly sewn and glued and in one piece, but cleanly detached from the covers. 307 pages. Page edges marbled. On the inside front cover, the bookplate of Matilda Constance Ismay is affixed. It is 3.75 x 5.75 inches, with her name and a striking image of a woman with her dog. Ismay was married to Charles Ismay, who's brother was the managing director of the White Star Line. He was among those responsible for there being too few lifeboats on the Titanic & moreover was himself a survivor of that disaster. He was the highest ranking employee of the White Star Line to survive. Charles Ismay worked for the White Star Line as well. Charles Ismay and Bruce Ismay married sisters Matilda and Julia Schieffelin. Please email with questions or to request photos.
