Kelly, Charles. Outlaw Trail. Charles Kelly, 1938.

Price: US$150.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: Much more than the story of Butch and Sundance, this great old book is an account of The Old West gathered from many old-timers who were there and the author credits them. Self published, stated one of one thousand by author Charles Kelly in Salt Lake City 1n 1938. Endpapers show maps of the Brown's Hole, Hole-in -the-Wall area where Wyoming, Utah and Colorado meet. 9.25 in. x 6.25 in., 337 pages with the 34 chapter titles shown here. 37 illustrations, about half photos (some gruesome) and half the wonderful art of Bill Fleming who also did the jacket. Book is in great shape, clean and tight throughout. There is some underlining in the first third only of the book but it is minimal and neatly done. Jacket has chips at spine ends and a transparent covering applied to most of it at some point. You can spot it in the photo here. I put the jacket in new mylar and it looks "pretty damn good" as Butch might have said. Pebble grain boards with a bit of a scuff at top of spine but no structural damage and bright, gilded lettering. Really cool old book.
