Description: 8vo., First Edition, Second Impression, with coloured endpaper maps; black boards, bungundy cloth back gilt, purple silk marker, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Bright copy of the true UK first edition. The book was prepared by H&S with number line 1. No-one seems certain how many, but around 1200 copies were printed before the author objected to the dustwrapper design, as a result of which these copies were made available only at airports and overseas. Thus the 'first UK edition' (ie. the first sold in the UK) is technically the second impression with number line 2 as here.

JOHN LE CARRÉ.. Our Game.. Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1995.

Price: US$70.58 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: First Edition (first printing), with the complete number line. 8vo. 347pp. Black boards lettered in gold at the spine. Map-illustrated endpapers. Ribbon place marker. Half a dozen tiny pinpricks of spotting to the top edge, and a hint of toning to the leaf margins. Binding cracked and opened at the terminal leaf, hence only a good copy in the second state dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but very slightly faded at the spine panel. Le Carré loathed the dust wrapper design and it was replaced for the general UK issue of this book, with the original version reserved for export and UK airport use only. The subsequently produced UK editions all contain a number line starting with '2', but in this copy the '1' is present, confirming it as one of the original first state examples, albeit now housed in a second state dust wrapper (the design showing a single silhouetted figure against a red and white background).
