Fleming, Ian. On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Pan, London, 1964.

Price: US$3528.98 + shipping

Description: (London: Pan Books Ltd 1964). First UK Paperback Edition. Pan X350. A softback. The true UK first edition of the rarest Ian Fleming first edition of them all. A VG+ copy with a Singapore bookstore stamp to the bottom right-hand corner of the half-title and with the usual page tanning due to the poor quality of paper used. There is NO PRICE to the wrappers which confirms its status as a first UK edition. There are no reading creases to the spine which is firm and square. There is a faint closed tear to the top left-hand corner of the rear cover but this does not detract from its overall lovely, collectable condition. We are somewhat heartened by the presence of the Singapore bookstore stamp as, in our experience, the tiny number of first editions of this title that have appeared on the market in the last 25+ years have been sourced from the Malay Peninsula. Photographs/scans available upon request.

Condition: Very Good

Description: PAPERBACK - A very good example of a genuinely rare Ian Fleming book. This copy is the correct UK first Pan edition with no price present to the bottom left of the front panel. Nearly all first edition copies were shipped to Canada with a selling price of 60c found to the front panel. A small number of copies were shipped to the far East such as Malaysia and Singapore. This is one of these copies. The books boards are in very good overall condition with toning to the spine than encroaches slightly to the edge of the rear panel. There is a crease to the bottom corner of the rear panel, but with no loss or tears to either the front or rear panels, or to the spine. Internally. there is a small indentation to the books fore edge, with the usual toning to the page block and inner text due to the paper stock used in the books production. Aside from the indentation to the fore edge, the inner text is clean, free of any previous owner names or inscriptions. The book is encased in a chemise, which in turn lays inside its own custom made box with gilt OHMSS lettering and 1964 date present to the spine.
