All seventeen volumes are in "Very Good" to "Very Good Plus" condition with red-brown half binding, marbled boards, marbled endpapers, 5 raised bands, gilt lettering on the spines, and gilt design on the boards. Some volumes have more wear than others, but they are all in Very Good condition at minimum, with occasional staining and some amount of fading to the board marbling. There are some illustrations throughout most of the volumes, but not all, as well as the occasional fold-out map.
