Description: A very good book from the extremely scarce SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION FIRST EDITION. Only 100 copies were produced for sale and this one is numbered 51. This Special Edition has three extra illustrations in photogravure hand-printed in colour compared to the standard first edition. It, therefore, has 18 illustrations in colour compared to the usual 15. It was also printed on a specially made rag paper. The book is bound in clean white buckram covers with gilt titles to the spine and with a small decorative motif to the front; the spine is very slightly darkened and there are very slight bumps to spine ends. Internally the book is near fine and free of inscriptions; the only flaw is the light spotting to the paste downs and free end papers that are of ordinary paper whereas the rest of the book being made of the special rag paper has no foxing whatsoever. All illustrations present with the three extra ones protected by tissue guards; top edges gilt with the others untrimmed. A most attractive copy of this scarce item
