A very fine copy. Not only a very handsome production, this collection is of great importance because of its comprehensiveness. Its 300 examples embrace a number of the finest artistic results of the leading factories together with carefully selected specimens of some of the minor enterprises. No fewer than eighteen factories are included, and illustrations are provided of the various types of porcelain which each factory produced. Each section dealt with in this volume is prefaced by an historical and descriptive account and a technical examination of the character of the factory's productions by Arthur Hayden, with references to examples in the collection. Very rare! In the last thirty years only six copies of this work have sold at auction, none since 1995. OCLC locates 12 copies in institutions worldwide. This particular copy was sold by the Argonaut Book Shop in 1985; we are fortunate to be able to offer this rare title, once again.
