Description: original boards depicting a nurse maid reading to 3 children seated on the floor. small tears in the boards. the book starts with the title page and the next page is the start of the preface which is page 7 so there are a few missing preliminary pages. from then on the book is complete. 288 pages. there are a lot of age related marks and tears and old tape residue marks. page 162 has the top third torn away. the binding is strong. Description: Green cloth covers with darker green lettering on this first edition, without any additional printings indicated. Floral oval holding color pastedown of the old woman who lived under the hill, which is bright and clean, tightly adhered and without chipping. The binding is tight ,the book and text clean and without previous owners' markings.Heavily illustrated by Brooke throughout with B&W illustrations. Very light corner wear, light bumping/wear to upper and lower spine. The gilt lettering on the spine has slightly faded, and the upper back and front corners have light bumps. The interior is crisp and clean, heavily illustrated by Brook. No DJ
