Les tomes comme souvent présentent parfois de très fortes rousseurs.(voir photo 4 pour le max) Ediiton bien conforme a celle décrite dans Vicaire tome 4 page 261. Le Tome 1 380 pages imprimerie de Plassan et les tome 2 428 pages et 3 352 pages imprimerie Terzuolo. Cette édition est parue en souscription hebdomadaire, notre exemplaire comme souvent a été relié sans suite de gravure. Rappelons qu'Eugene Renduel donna la première édition complète en 3 volumes in8 avec 3 chapitres inédits retrouvés, comme il l'explique dans la préface. Exemplaire modeste mais plaisir d'avoir dans les mains une édition Renduel de Notre Dame de Paris.

La planche «?De l'utilité des fenêtres?» est absente, comme dans la plupart des exemplaires de première émission car cette planche n'était pas encore prête lors de l'impression. Reliure d'éditeur "Rocaille" en plein maroquin brun d'époque signée Boutigny en queue, la signature a été fautivement frappée à l'envers, dos lisse comportant des traces de décolorations, orné de fers en miroir, plats frappés à froid d'un encadrement avec ornements et feuillages, titre en éventail sur le premier plat et chiffre d'Eugène Renduel sur le second estampés à l'or, frise intérieure, toutes tranches dorées. Rousseurs éparses sur la majorité des feuillets. Eugène Renduel a fait réaliser pour cette nouvelle édition, sans doute la plus belle de Notre-Dame de Paris, plusieurs exemplaires de luxe sous différentes reliures d'éditeur "à la Cathédrale" ou en "style Rocaille" réalisées par Boutigny. La nôtre, en "maroquin du Levant, gros grain, avec plaque en or et en noir" est la plus luxueuse de ces reliures, vendue 30 fr. d'après le catalogue de l'éditeur. Particularité rare, notre exemplaire, comporte de surcroît, le chiffre d'Eugène Renduel - le célèbre éditeur de toute la génération romantique et celui de Victor Hugo en particulier - frappé à l'or au centre du deuxième plat, caractéristique que nous n'avons pas retrouvé sur les autres exemplaires de luxe. Well printed in a spaced typography with large margins, similar to the first edition published in 1831. Without the plate "De l'utilité des fenêtres" [On the usefulness of windows] like most first issue copies, as it was not finished when printing began. Publisher's "Rocaille" binding in brown morocco, signed Boutigny at bottom of spine, the signature has been mistakenly stamped upside down, covers with ornaments and foliage motifs stamped in blind, central gilt title on the upper cover and gilt cipher of Eugène Renduel on the lower, all edges gilt, traces of discoloration to the spine, scattered foxing on most leaves. For this new and perhaps most beautiful of edition of Notre-Dame de Paris, Eugène Renduel commissioned several deluxe copies in cathedral and "rocaille" bindings made by Boutigny. This one in "maroquin du Levant, gros grain, avec plaque en or et en noir" [Levant morocco, large grain, paneled in gilt and blind] is the most luxurious, sold for 30 fr. according to the publisher's catalog. Our copy also includes a rare particularity: a cipher of Eugène Renduel - famous publisher of the whole generation of Romantic writers and of Victor Hugo in particular - gilt stamped in the center of the lower cover, a particular feature we did not find on the other deluxe copies.
