Publisher's linen cloth-covered boards sturdy and clean, corners sharp, age-toning at hinges; contents unmarked and quite attractive. The unclipped ($3.00) dust jacket, now in Mylar, is worn at top and bottom edges, rubbed at hinges, and mildly sunned at spine. 640 grams.

Description: The first edition of this collaboration between Caldwell and Bourke-White. Published in March of 1939 by the Viking Press. A near fine example of the book with a trace of glue browning in the gutters. The uncommon dust jacket is very good; spine faded and with wear to the folds. Light chipping to the spine ends and tips and a fingernail sized chip to the upper corner of the rear jacket panel. Czechoslovakia before the Nazi invasion; assayed in 64 of Bourke-White's photos and the text of husband Caldwell.
