Description: RARE CHAPBOOK. From page following title page: "No Man is an Island is an address delivered by the author, Ray Bradbury, at the Annual Meeting, November 7, 1952, before the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Women's Committee of Brandeis University. This is printed by request for the members of this organization". From final page (p.10): "The National Women's Committee of Brandeis University, a nation-wide membership organization, with no fund raising, is the only group in the country undertaking the complete responsibility of a university library". Ray Bradbury's address begins: "It is good to confront a group of people who are planning to build a library rather than burn one". This copy is the RARE FIRST EDITION, & apparently there were also a couple of scarce reprints of this item. Bradbury scholar (& friend of RB) Donn Albright noted in an email to me: "There was a reprint of this edition done in 1956 by the Westchester Chapter of the National Women's Committee of Brandeis University in Hartsdale, NY in an identical format, and a third done by the same organization in Waltham, MA. This one was done on 4 mimeographed pages 28 x 21cm in 1964. There is also a fourth reprint done in the 1980's which was a bit larger in format than the first two with light blue very thin paper covers with no date or place. When I found the latter in Ray's files and asked him about them he just grinned and shrugged". Staple-bound blue wraps with black lettering within border to front cover, as issued. Thin pamphlet chapbook. Small volume. Slight toning to covers, otherwise a very nice clean softcover copy. 10pp. EXTREMELY RARE.
