Description: Slim octavo [21.5 cm] 1/4 tan cloth with blue paper over boards. Blue endpapers. Illustrated title page. The boards are dampstained, particularly the rear board (the paper has bubbled a bit). The book is internally free of dampstaining. One in an edition limited to 450. The Cuala Press originally started out as the Dun Emer Press in 1903. The Press, founded by Evelyn Gleeson and influenced by the Gaelic revival occurring in Ireland, promoted Ireland's cultural heritage, while at the same time training women to work in a useful trade. Eventually the two sisters of W. B. Yeats took over the press, continuing her work, and renaming it The Cuala Press in 1908. The Press eventually closed in 1973.

Description: First edition, one of 450 copies; 8vo; minor age-toning, else unmarked internally, partly unopened; publisher's cloth-backed blue boards, paper label to spine printed in black, black lettering to upper cover, blue endpapers, spine label slightly rubbed costing some letters, cloth slightly marked, some rubbing to extremities, else very good. One of 450 copies, printed at the Cuala Press. The Cuala Press originally started out as the Dun Emer Press in 1903, founded by Evelyn Gleeson. Inscribed "Elizabeth Parker" in pencil on ffep and bookplate of Wyman Parker on front pastedown. CONDITION: Very good, nick to spine-edge of paper on rear cover, bit of rubbing to spine label slightly affecting lettering. First edition. One of 450 copies, "finished on the last day of Spring April the ninth, in the year nineteen hundred and thirty eight," and purchased by previous owner at "the Cuala Press, June 9, 1938, for a gift for Mother." Wyman Parker was a librarian at Wesleyan University, librarian at the Bread Loaf School of English, and a collector of fine press books.
