CHRISTIE, AGATHA. N OR M?. Dodd, Mead & Company, New York, 1941.

Price: US$37.70 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: pp: 289. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Blue boards, with title and author name in dark blue frame. Top edge stained yellow, fore edge rough cut. The free endpapers, front and back, bear the 'Red Badge Detective' logo used by Dodd, Mead to identify the best mystery novels. Opposite the title page is an advert by the publisher for a contest rewarding new mystery stories. The novel first appeared in the US in a condensed version in the March 1941 issue of Redbook magazine. In this novel, Christie delved into the world of secret agents and spies. Christie herself was briefly investigated by British Intelligence as she used a name in the book that was relevant to a secret British operation. This is a very good copy that lacks the dust jacket. The blue of the spine has faded. The base of the spine is worn, and partially torn, but complete. There is a small stain on the top bard, and shelf wear. Internally, there is a gift inscription on the free endpaper dated in 1941. Both names have been blacked out with felt pen.
