Agatha Christie. The A.B.C. Murders - RARE COLLINS PRE-WW II PAPERBACK W/ORIGINAL DUST JACKET. Collins, 1939.

Price: US$249.99 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: AGATHA CHRISTIE - THE A.B.C. MURDERS, copyright 1936, states "Sixth Impression. April, 1939" on copyright page (as far as I know this is the first paperback edition published by Collins as the early printings refer to the hardcover Collins printings) - VERY RARE PRE-WWII AGATHA CHRISTIE PAPERBACK PUBLISHED WITH DUST JACKET - THERE WERE ONLY A HANDFUL OF AGATHA CHRISTIE BOOKS THAT WERE PUBLISHED BY COLLINS IN THIS PAPERBACK FORMAT IN THE LATE 1930S (the generic cover Collins pbs were not intended to be saved after being read and those few that were saved - hardly any of those survived the paper drives imposed in the UK during WWII). Book has no hard vertical spine creasing, no spine lean, no cover creases, "pushed" closed tear to cover is only defect, no age yellowing to covers, no chipping to covers, virtually no wear to spine tips - no spine chipping or tearing at spine tips, no edge wear, no dust/handling soiling, no soiling or staining, no cover rubbing, no former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside, pages barely starting to age yellow at edges (as is often found with these pre-WWII Collins pbs), pages are tight and flat with no creased page corners from prior reading, no spine fade. Original Dust Jacket has sliver loss at top spine tip and 'v' loss at bottom right spine tip (virtually no lettering affected) otherwise no chipping, tearing or creasing, just a hint of wear to spine tips, almost no wear to front flap crease, no soiling or staining, ever slight spine sun darkening to white area on spine, no edge wear. Overall a FINE- book in FINE- dust jacket of a rare Agatha Christie pre-WWII paperback printing book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Agatha Christie 1st printing hardcover/ paperback/magazine appearances up for sale.
