Description: Apparent first edition. Text is tight and clean with no marks but some age-darkening. Pages 130 and 131 have a crease across them made during the printing. Owner's name and the date, 1919, inside front cover. Binding is dark blue cloth with black lettering. the spine is age darkened making the title difficult to read, there is some slight edge rubbing but otherwise the book is in very good condition. Description: First edition. Inscribed by the author. Original cloth in dustwrapper. A good copy with some darkening and fraying of the spine. The contents are complete although the hinges are splitting but holding. The front free endpaper is inscribed in black ink "with kind regards of John Buchan. May 1919". Complete with original very good supplied first issue dustwrapper which has small chips to the spine tips and fold corners. The reverse of the dustwrapper has been backed at the spine and folds with archival tissue paper (which could be easily removed). The third Richard Hannay novel, the book considerably scarcer in inscribed state than it is in dustwrapper, offered here with the benefit of both. (Blanchard A46). Description: First edition. 8vo. Blue cloth with dark blue lettering in the original pictorial dustwrapper. A very good copy indeed, small patch of darkening to spine top, minor offsetting to the front free endpaper and bookplate of E. L. Allhusen on the front pastedown. The dustwrapper is also in very good condition, with a small chip to the upper spine (just nicking the "M" of MR in the title) and some tanning to the spine. The panels are bright and complete, as are the printed flaps. The third novel featuring Buchan's most famous character, Richard Hannay. Uncommon in the original dustwrapper.
