Description: First edition, hardcover in decorated red cloth with black and gold titling to the front and gold titling to the spine, the hinges have been neatly repaired, and the binding has a couple thin pulls starting in the text block but remains solid overall. The book also has bumps to the spine ends and cover corners with the cloth starting to fray and wear, light sunning to the spine, rubbing with some spots of soiling and smudging to the covers, foxing starting to the first and last few pages and the edges of the text block, and a previous owner's name and date (89) to the half title page, otherwise a solid Good only copy.

The second half of the book concerns a court battle, involving Mr. Meeson's Will, which is tattooed onto the back of Augusta Smithers. With a thirty-two page publisher's catalogue to the rear. All issue points correspond with Scott, 9a. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with fading to the spine and shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine. Small mark to the front board and spine. Rear hinge is starting but held firmly. Binding is slightly strained between page 240 and 241, but held firmly by cords.
