Bound in blue cloth with red cloth panels gilt. "Les Chats, a collection of eleven letters and the poems on cats and their ways, was first published in 1727. Thought an immediate success among cat lovers, the book quickly became the subject of many heartless satires and skits and it author eventually withdrew it from his collected works. In spite of all this it has triumphantly survived and in its translation by Reginald Bretnor will continue to give much pleasure and delight." (Cock-A-Hoop 213).
