Description: Illustrated with 38 illustrations from sketches. Lithos and etchings. All are present as listed and have tissue guards. Some have original colour added. Original cloth, gilt titling. Gilt top and uncut edges. There is some wear to edges and both the endpapers and covers are spotted in places. However, a good copy of an interesting item. All books outside the UK are sent airmail and those over £30 are tracked; those inside the UK are signed for. Paypal accepted.

Description: Numerous lithographic plates all present. Bumping, with minor wear to cloth, at spine ends and a few small black spots at top of spine and on the front hinge. A red mark and a vertical stain near the leading edge of the front board are the only external flaws. Internally hinges intact and no flaws of note. Postage will be confirmed when you enquire or order and for light or very heavy books will vary from the ABE quote which is based on a 1kg parcel. N.B. Postage to the USA will often be quite a bit less than the quote on ABE.

Description: Very good, first edition book, no dust jacket. Brown buckram cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and small brown-stamped Whistler monogram on front board panel; lettering on spine may have been gilt but looks brown now, due to heavy sunning. Upper page edges are gilt; side and lower edges are untrimmed and darkened by age and soil. Boards are soiled somewhat overall and sunned, more so on the edges and heavily on the spine. Edges at head and tail of board spine are curled and rubbed with corners split and frayed. Fore-edge corner tips are rubbed through. Front and back inside gutters are cracked. Previous owner's inscription and date on FFEP; same owners have impressed his name in the upper corner of FFEP. The quire containing the frontispiece through pp. x is loosened. The side opening of pp. viii & ix was roughly done and the edge is uneven; the side of pp. xi & the half-title page was not opened. All 38 listed illustrations are accounted for, all with titled tissue guards. "All the illustrations have been printed by lithography by T. Way.except the etching "Fitzroy Square," printed by Messrs. F. Goulding.and the photogravure of "The White Lady," by Messrs. Cartwright & Sons." Foxing limited to the several first and last pages, age-toning to text pages, else internally clean. Text block is somewhat shaken but stable overall. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description. Additional photos available at your request. All plates and tissue guards present. Book clean throughout. Bookseller's ticket to front paste down. No inscriptions or names. Nice copy.
