Description: Very Good, Limited Edition, one of 250 copies printed, 8vo, 9 3/4" x 7." Printed by the Grabhorn Press. Lacks slipcase. Light brown paper-covered boards backed with white leather. Gilt lettering on front and spine. Covers have some age toning, slightly bumped tips, and slight darkening along spine, else clean and intact, binding tight. Pages have minuscule age toning, else pristine and intact. Laid-in ephemera included, a piece of paper with printed black text, possibly a calling card. Ephemera reads, "from Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro," which was one of the law firms of Oscar Sutro. One black-and-white frontispiece portrait of Oscar Sutro also included. 74 pp. + frontispiece. A collection of eulogies to Oscar Sutro (1874-1935), an American lawyer, bibliophile, and Executive Vice President of Standard Oil. Oscar was the son of Emil and Adelheid Sutro. Oscar Sutro rose to prominence as a lawyer and for being part of the noted law firm, Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, which had been co-founded by his brother, Alfred Sutro. Oscar Sutro was a respected San Francisco attorney, President of the Standard Oil Company of California, member of the American Petroleum Institute, trustee of Mills College, book collector, etc. Included tributes to Sutro by dozens of Court colleagues, the San Francisco Chronicle, Standard Oil, et al.
