Previous owner's markings are on title page and on "List of Illustrations" pages. Small, specks of black staining on front board, near front edge of spine and fore-edge. Otherwise very good with brightly gilt page blocks.

Description: This states Volume 1, but only one volume was published. Ornately stamped brown cloth moderately rubbed/bumped at corners and edges, front hinge starting. Very heavy, oversized tome of 674pp. Includes many plates (82) and maps (7) including large, wall-sized fold-out map "Country Explored by Fremont" tipped in to rear endpaper. There is some faint evidence of moisture that is mostly visible to the lower corner of a handful of the plates, while pages seem conspicuously untouched. See photo of the most visible stain. Overall, still a handsome copy. Will require substantial additional shipping for international options.
