Description: Three poems bound up together in contemporary calf, moderate edgewear, corners rounded, rebacked, date to front blank, old Atwood armorial bookplate inside cover, scattered foxing and browning; Manfred with the added quote to the title and the Davison imprint at rear, usually regarded as the 3rd issue, bound without the half title. Mazeppa bound without the half title and the rear ads, apparently the 2nd issue (the imprint was moved to the verso of the ads page for the 2nd issue). The Deformed Transformed is the second edition. 80pp; 69, (1), pp; 88pp. The fragment, included after Mazeppa, is the result of the famous ghost writing contest which resulted in Frankenstein. In twentieth-century marbled paper-covered boards, titled in black on paper spine label, all edges marbled; later off-white endpapers; [1-7] 8-80, [viii], [1]-53, [1]pp. A sturdy, straight copy, rubbed at edges and joints, internally with occasional spots of fingersoil and foxing but largely clean: Very Good. Byron's closet drama Manfred bound with Hebrew Melodies, a collection of lyric poems that included the first appearance of "She Walks in Beauty." This copy lacking the final ad leaf of Hebrew Melodies, which would identify the issue, and without the inserted half-title and and title pages. WISE I pp. 103-4, 122.
