Covers show bumped corners, with light rubbing, interior shows light foxing, mostly on the preliminary pages and fore-edge. From the personal collection of Dr. Brooks Ryder (1918-1995), graduate of Harvard College, Harvard School of Public Health, and Tufts Medical School. Description: First Edition Hard Back. Original burgundy cloth with small gilt pictorial to the front and gilt titles to the spine. The front and rear boards do show a little surface wear despite this they are in good condition andnbsp; the gilt is still bright. Spine is faded with the cloth split down the outer hinges and frayed to the top and base. Top edge gilt while the fore edge untrimmed. Binding weak with cracking to the internal hinges. Ink inscription to the top of the title page. Endpapers toned with a little foxing. The occasional thumb mark and spot of foxing throughout however the pages remain generally clean. Beautifully illustrated throughout. pp. xii 419.nbsp;
