Description: First edition. Hardcover in light gray paper covered boards with front cover tipped on color illustration and title. 115 pp. With 24 spectacular full page color plates, three half-page color illustrations and numerous full and partial page black and white drawings by Penny Ross. A very good, well-preserved copy, some light rubbing and toning about the edges of the boards, spine a little soiled and some light spotting to the rear cover. Interior has some light foxing to the edges of a few pages. One rainy day Little Esther takes an imaginary trip through the Rainbow Arch to "Toyland" where she meets soldiers, the king and queen, Jack in the Box, the residents of "Doll Town", a penitent elephant, living floawers and other magical beings. Esther is finally crowned "Queen of Toyland"
